CLLRA Journal Peer Review Policy

The peer review process helps improve the quality of the submissions made, ensures that the previous work is also acknowledged, determines the importance of findings, detects plagiarism and fraud and plays a central role in academic career development.

  1. The Process

The entire process is divided into three stages:

First stage:

  • Submissions need to be submitted through online process available at cllra.com and Submission made on mail will not be acceptable.

  • The submission will then undergo codification and will be sent to editorial team for primary review. Decision as to send it for review or to outrightly reject the submission will be taken.

Second Stage:

  • The submission accepted for review will be sent to editorial team for detailed review.

  • After the first review, the same shall be sent to the peer review team.

  • Peer reviewers may recommend acceptance without changes, acceptance with major or minor revisions, or rejection of the submission.

Third Stage:

  • The editors will communicate the peer reviewers' decisions and comments to the author.

  • Authors may be given the opportunity to revise the submission based on the peer reviewers' suggestions at the editors' discretion.

  • The editors will assess whether the revisions suggested by the peer reviewers have been satisfactorily incorporated into the submission.

  • Depending on the editors' assessment, multiple rounds of revisions may be required.

  • If the editors determine that the necessary revisions have not been made, they may reject the submission.

  • Conversely, if the editors are satisfied with the revisions, they may recommend the submission for publication in NLUD Journal on ‘Labour’.

  • The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of the submission will be communicated to the authors by the editors.

  1. Type of Peer Review

NLUD Journal on ‘Labour’ adheres to a rigorous double-blind peer-review policy in which the identity of both the reviewer and author are always concealed from both parties.

  1. Queries

NLUD Journal on ‘Labour’ editors shall act as a liaison between the author and the peer reviewer. Therefore, if the author has any queries regarding the peer reviewer’s comments, they may inform the editors, who shall communicate the queries to the peer reviewer and get back to the author.

5. Number of Peer Reviewers

The paper is sent to two peer reviewers as a matter of policy of the Journal. NLUD Journal on ‘Labour’ solicits well-versed individuals with years of experience in a particular field of labour to peer review its papers. It maintains quality control by ensuring that only practitioners, academics, or policy experts in a particular field of law peer review a paper.

6. Metrics of Review

The peer reviewers must engage with the journal based on the following metrics:

  • Identification of issues

  • Depth of research

  • Analyses, interpretations, and conclusions

  • Clarity of argument

  • Originality and innovation

  • Contribution to the knowledge on the issue

  • Engagement with the existing literature

  • Appropriate and up-to-date references

  • Structure and organisation of the paper.

The peer reviewer may recommend that the paper be accepted without any comments, or that it be accepted with major or minor changes, or that the paper be rejected.  Based on the editors’ discretion, the authors may be given the chance to incorporate the peer reviewer’s suggestions into their paper. If the editors believe that the paper is satisfactory and the peer reviewer’s comments have been incorporated, they may accept it for publication. However, after these rounds, if the editors feel that the paper is still unsuitable for the Journal, they may recommend that the paper be rejected.
