On October 29, 2024, Australia ratified its final two ILO Conventions, achieving full compliance with all ten Fundamental Conventions. By ratifying the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health (No. 187) and Safe and Healthy Working Environment (Consequential Amendments) Convention (No. 191), Australia solidifies its commitment to worker safety and labor rights. Ambassador Amanda Gorely emphasized that this milestone reflects Australia’s dedication to social justice and occupational safety, urging other nations to prioritize safe workplaces and uphold worker protections as part of sustainable economic growth.
