The Employee Provident Fund Organisation has released a new set of guidelines outlining the procedures for receiving joint declarations to rectify errors in universal account number (UAN) profiles of both members and employers. The document also outlines the prescribed method for making corrections, to be adhered to by the Field Offices. The joint declaration refers to the combined request made by the employees who are duly certified by the employer for amending the members’ basic profile parameters which may include correction of the member’s name, gender, date of birth, marital status, etc. All the corrections which are made shall be supported by documentary evidences which are mentioned in Annexure- I of the latest SOP. The EPFO notification categorizes the changes into minor corrections and major corrections. For all the major corrections, at least three documentary proof is required while for the minor corrections, the employees need to submit at least two documentary evidence from the list of documents attached in Annexure-I.
