Government Of Haryana to Provide Health Services to Contractual Employees

Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Chief Secretary of Haryana, said in a press release dated October 16, 2023, that employees working in various departments of the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited will now have access to health care through the Haryana Chirayu Yojana. This project will provide much-needed healthcare coverage to a large number of engaged contractual employees.

 

The Chief Secretary said that all the employees earning more than 21 thousand per month, who are affiliated with the Urban Local Bodies and do not come under the ambit of the ESI scheme shall have access to medical services. This implies that in case an employee associated with Municipality or Municipal Council/Corporation sustains an injury during the course of their employment, all the expenses of their treatment shall be borne by the state government. According to the Chief Secretary such a scheme would further the government’s aim of striving towards the welfare of employees, especially those engaged in challenging and hazardous jobs such as sanitation and sewer workers, firemen, fire brigade drivers etc. In the event of any unfortunate accident leading to the death of the workers, these employees are entitled to a 5 lakh insurance benefit under the Mukhyamantri Karamchari Durghatna Beema Yojana. Moreover, employees on adhoc, daily wages and contract are provided financial assistance of up to Rs. 3 lakhs.
