The Office of the Labour Commissioner, Punjab, vide notification dated October 13, 2023, adjusted and revised the minimum wages of workers with effect from September 1, 2023. The minimum of wages of different categories of workers as mentioned in the list of scheduled employments have been fixed with average C.P.I index ending August, 2023. After linking the New Series of CPI (IW) (Base 2016= 100) to the old series of CPI (IW) (Base 2001=100), the average CPI from March 2023 to August 2023 is 390.11. The minimum rates of wages have been adjusted according to this number and the revised details of the monthly wages are as follows:
· Unskilled: INR 10,736.75 (Rupees Ten Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty-Six and Seventy-Five Paise)
· Semi-skilled: INR 11,516.75 (Rupees Eleven Thousand Five Hundred and Sixteen and Seventy-Five Paise)
· Skilled: INR 12,413.75 (Rupees Twelve Thousand Four Hundred and Thirteen and Seventy-Five Paise) and
· Highly skilled: INR 13,445.75 (Rupees Thirteen Thousand Four Hundred and Forty-Five and Seventy-Five Paise).
